Our New E-Magazine

Capturing mountain culture in Alberta's Capital Region

As you may have heard...

Volunteers from the Alpine Club of Canada, Edmonton Section have been working to bring you MTN - our Section's new, seasonal, digital magazine - and we would love for you to be a contributor!

MTN is interested in articles and reports, from Alpine Club of Canada, Edmonton Section members. MTN submissions should be in areas of interest to the ACC such as climbing, mountaineering, skiing, ice climbing, alpinism, environmental stewardship, mountain literature, etc. and can come in the form of the following:

  • Trip reports - maximum of 1000 words.

  • First ascents - maximum of 1000 words.

  • Photo editorials - maximum of 250 words.

  • Comedy/Satire - maximum of 1000 words.

  • Reviews - book reviews, guidebook reviews.

  • Remembrances - tributes to the passing of friends.

Submission Requirements:

Submitted by November 1, 2017

  • We expect writers to review and edit their article for punctuation, spelling, grammar, syntax, continuity and content.

  • Use the active voice, not the passive voice. For example, writing “it was decided” leaves questions in the readers’ minds. (Who decided?) Writing “Mr. Jones decided” is stronger and more informative.

  • Define terms that may not be well known. Avoid jargon and clichés that may confuse readers or send them running for the dictionary. On first mention, spell out abbreviations or acronyms. If in doubt, define.

  • Word count can range anywhere between 250 and 1000 words. MS Word documents or RTF format please.

  • Text and photos can be emailed to:
