November 27th meeting and PHOTO CONTEST!!!
We are resurrecting the annual photo contest, and currently soliciting volunteer judges and assistance in putting together a fine evening, as in years gone by.
Assistance will be needed in setting up and taking down chairs, and beverages and snacks and various associated accouterments. In addition, some shopping will need to be done, for said beverages and snacks.
A judging panel will need to be struck to decide on winning submissions in as many as 15 categories. At this time there are two members who have agreed to be on the panel. Two more would be ideal. It’s anyone guess how many submissions they will need to sort through. That will depend on the enthusiasm of our members!
Here is the lowdown on the rules and the categories:
Rules:

Photos must have been taken by a paid up member of the Edmonton Section.

Photos must have been taken within the last 2 years.

Photos must not have won in previous Edmonton Section photo contests.

No more than 3 photos per category per person may be entered. Enter as many categories as you like.

Entries must be identified with owners name, category, and title.

Photos from any alpine area in the world are accepted.

Professional and semi-professional photographers an ineligible.

Categories:
Rock Climbing and Mountaineering, Preferably showing good technique. Resting parties not considered.
Snow and Ice Climbing. Preferably showing good technique. Resting parties not considered.
Skiing. Should include people on skiis! Resting parties not considered.
Summer Alpine Association. Any aspect of summer alpine scenery.
Winter Alpine Association. Any aspect of winter alpine scenery.
Mountain Flora
Mountain Fauna
Mountain Humour
Alpine Experimental. Photographically unusual, artistic, far out.
Spirit of Mountaineering. That which best shows people in mountain setting, capturing spirit, camaraderie of mountaineering.
Colour Image. Any mountain related image in colour.
Black and White Image. Any mountain related image in black and white.
Breeze award. Best Breeze article submitted by a member.
Turkey Award. Misappropriate submission in any category.
