At the core of the club are our trips to the mountains, and trip coordinators are the invaluable volunteers who make them happen. Organizing fellow club members is a rewarding experience, and we are focused on supporting our members with opportunities to lead within their comfort level.

Trip Waivers

Edmonton Section trips continue to require printed and signed waivers for each participant. You can view, download, and print trip waivers here.

Trip Coordinator Orientation

The section will occasionally host an orientation session to help aspiring trip coordinators understand the roles and responsibilities, club policies, what makes good leadership, and to share trip management tips. Orientations are meant to be interactive discussions with Q&A where we share collective experience and learn from one another.

Coordinate a trip now!

Want to jump right into coordinating trips? We’d love that, so we’ve made it easy to get started!

To organize a trip, simply email the relevant coordinator:

When you reach out, please include:

  • A brief list of your relevant mountain accomplishments and training
  • A few details about the types of trips you’re interested in leading

If you’re unsure where your trip idea fits, or for general questions about trip coordination, you can also contact safety@accedmonton.ca.

Want to coordinate a trip to one of the ACC huts? The process for coordinating a section trip to an ACC hut can be found here.

Ease in by teaming up

If you want to coordinate a trip but wouldn’t mind some help doing so, there may be opportunities to co-coordinate or shadow another coordinator. We can help connect you with other members to get you the assistance and advice you need.  Let’s start working together, email volunteering@accedmonton.ca

Volunteer Subsidies

We love our volunteers! The hard work and dedication of ACC Edmonton volunteers contributes to the vibrancy of our section. We recognize that trip coordinators, and the ACC Edmonton community, benefit from skill development and growth, which provides everyone with enhanced trip experiences. That’s why the section offers subsidies to trip coordinators and volunteers through our Volunteer Subsidy Program.

First, read through the new guide to learn all about the volunteer subsidy program. When you’re ready to apply for the subsidy fill out the Online Application Form. If you prefer to submit a PDF version of the application, fill out the Paper Application Form and send it to volunteering@accedmonton.ca.

To improve the accessibility of the program, the application window has been extended to two years, from Oct. 1, 2024 to Sept. 30, 2026. Application are accepted anytime within the two year window with subsidies being paid in October of each year. One application per volunteer will be accepted within the two year window.

With this program, volunteers can apply to either earn subsidies toward courses for their own development or a gift card for use toward the gear they need to lead trips. If you are applying for a course subsidy, make sure you have your course receipt and some form of course completion confirmation (certificate, email from instructor, etc.) ready before you apply.

If you are an ACC Edmonton volunteer, check out the program, earn points by volunteering and apply. We thank you for your volunteer contributions. Please send all volunteer subsidy program inquiries can to volunteering@accedmonton.ca.

Emergency Response Plan

Some types of trips including large volunteer led courses, long hut based trips, and remote backcountry camps, require an emergency response plan. Please review the Emergency Response Plan Policy.
