Interested?  Of course you are.  Here are some skills you’ll need before the course:

  • Belay Skills: Competency in belaying others in sport climbing scenarios.

Course Fees

We run our courses at cost, and this one comes in at $250.  That gets you two days of professional instruction, and a wealth of knowledge to keep you safe on the rock this summer.  Your accomodation and travel costs are your own responsibility, but we will have group camping available for these dates, and we will help you arrange a carpool with the other students.  Win-win!

You’ll also be responsible for coming prepared for the course with your own climbing equipment.  Your instructor will get in touch with a detailed list of gear prior to the course.  If you have questions about this, don’t hesitate to ask!

About the Instructor…

Your instructor will be Matt Reynolds, a renowned ACMG/IFMGA Mountain Guide.  Matt spends a lot of time instructing everyone from recreational climbers to military search and rescue personnel.  To say the least, he knows his way around a rope rescue, and also knows how to make things super-easy to understand.  He’ll have you cooking up a rescue in no time!

The fine print

Edmonton Section courses are run on a cost-recovery model.  This means that we provide courses at a pretty darn good price, but it also means that we are unable to provide refunds if you need to bail.  If you need to cancel for any reason, we will do our best to help you re-sell your spot.  Never the less, we do recommend that you consider purchasing insurance if the prospect of losing the course fees is unpalatable to you.

Not sure where to get insurance?  The ACC actually sells some!  Link here!
