Our First Annual Kids and Krags trip happened this past August 14-17. Our trip included 5 families with kids ranging from 0 to 12. With designs on some friendly cragging we arrived at Miette campground on Thursday with high hopes based on an improved forecast for the following day. Alas those hopes were dashed when we awoke to pouring rain with no signs of letting up. We made the best of it with a morning of huddling around the fire and under a tent for uno, hot chocolate, and Bailey’s for the adults.
For the afternoon we engaged in plan B and headed to the hot springs to warm up. The rain finally stopped mid afternoon so after an early dinner we headed to Morro Bluffs for some quick top roping on grippy limestone.
On Saturday we had excellent weather so made the trek into Cinquefoil for some awesome lines. We had first leads in years, kids belaying kids (supervised), baby giggles, and solid climbing all around.
After that it was back to camp to roast hot dogs and marshmallows! Much fun was had by all and we are already scheming about next year in either Ya Ha Tinda or the DTC. Big thanks to trip leaders Carla, Jon, and Luc. Looking forward to next year!
