I’d like to start by apologizing about the fact that we had to turn so many people away, we had an excess of interested people but could not fit everyone in. The next few lines will not help my case… we had a BLAST!

The kids had a wonderful time with hours of playing in the snow and coming back in the hut because their clothes could not soak up anymore water, fort buildings, adventuring around in the wood, card games, penguin belly sliding and much more. Even the Easter Bunny managed to organize an epic hunt for the 12 monkeys that needed to burn energy!

The backcountry skiing was not so bad either. We were lucky that the AVI risk were at the lowest, mother nature gifted us with a lot of blue bird skies and that the higher ups still had received some fresh snow just before our arrival. During the first day in the practice slopes we experienced some wet and sticky snow which told us that we needed to go higher. The second day we started with a long climb all the way to the Glacier Crest pass and we decided not to continue into the Asulkan Valley because we had experienced some pretty amazing snow for 2/3 of the way up. So we went back down in power most of the way down. Just a superb day, thanks to one of the participants who had been around the area many, many times and safely guided us around.

No sign of Marty this year (the pine Marten who kept us on our toes by sampling our food two years ago). The last evening some of us even decided to dip in the local creek to freshen up before supper.

Despite a much lower snow cover, some last minute cancellations and some stomach bug that was shared around between some of the kids, we had a great time. We also had amazing food, great company, made a bunch of new friends and we would recommend this hut to anyone! Next time will have to go back in the summer time!
