Winter In The Mountains (WIM)
WIM is a basic course to introduce you to winter travel in the mountains consisting of four lectures and two weekend trips with the possibility of a third. Topics include: equipment, temperature management, packing it all, snow shelters, introduction to avalanche terrain, food and cooking, etc. Course curriculum is provided on the website, here. Some skiing skills are required for travel in the mountains. Cost is $90 plus hut fees, gas, and other weekend costs. Limited to 24 participants. Lectures start January 9th. Winter In The Mountains Snowshoe (WIMS)
New this year, WIMS is based on the successful introductory WIM course with a focus on snowshoers! Lectures are shared with WIM, but mountain trips are separate and cater to snowshoers. On WIMS, one hostel-based weekend in the mountains is included that will consist of day trips to practice basic skills in the outdoors. A second weekend focusing on winter backcountry camping may be included if there is enough interest from the group. No previous snowshoe experience necessary. Cost is $90 plus accommodation fees, gas, other weekend costs. Limited to 10 participants. Lectures start January 9th.
